"What?" is an original ceramic sculpture handbuilt from stoneware clay. No molds were used. I colored and decorated the sculpture with underglazes and later glazed and fired the piece to cone 6.
The words on the baby's shirt read "whaaat?? who you calling baby".
The surprised looks infants have in response to unusual situations inspired this piece. However, the creation of this piece also questions the names and labels we have for people to whom we are attracted as well as people we wish to insult.
"What?" measures 10.25" x 6.5" x 6" and weighs approximately 7 pounds.
